Common questions

Is PortfolioCard free to use?

Yes. The Free plan supports up to 3 tickers, real-time P&L, and sharing to X or Note — no credit card required. The Pro plan ($5/month) raises the limit to 8 tickers.

Where does the stock price data come from?

We use Finnhub, a professional financial data provider. Prices are fetched on demand when you refresh your card.

Who can see my portfolio data?

Your card is accessible to anyone who has the card URL. This includes the tickers, share count, and average cost shown on the card. If you prefer to keep your positions private, do not share the URL.

The public card API returns holdings in JSON for anyone who knows the card id — the above reflects that behavior. If we change what is exposed, this answer will be updated.

What image format does the card export as?

Cards are generated as 1200×630px PNG files, sized for X (Twitter) and Note. The format follows standard OGP specifications.

Can I cancel my Pro subscription anytime?

Yes. Cancel anytime from your account settings. Your Pro features stay active until the end of the billing period, then revert to Free.

Which markets are supported?

Currently US equities (NYSE, NASDAQ). Support for additional markets is planned.

General

What is PortfolioCard?

A web tool for generating shareable portfolio snapshot cards. Enter your holdings, refresh quotes, download the card.

Is this a financial service?

No. PortfolioCard is a visualization tool only. Nothing here constitutes investment advice, a solicitation, or a recommendation to buy or sell any security. All investment decisions are made solely at your own risk.

PortfolioCard operates this service. Website: portfoliocard.app. Contact: ingo@portfoliocard.app

Do I need an account?

Yes. Sign-in via Google is required to create and save cards.

Data & Accuracy

Where do stock prices come from?

Prices are sourced from Finnhub. They may be delayed and are provided for display purposes only. Do not use them for trading decisions.

How often are prices updated?

Only when you manually click "Refresh Quotes." The timestamp on your card reflects that moment — not a live feed.

Are the P&L figures accurate?

P&L is calculated from the cost basis you enter. PortfolioCard does not verify or audit any user-provided data. Accuracy is your responsibility.

What about stock splits, reverse splits, or spinoffs?

PortfolioCard does not automatically adjust for corporate actions. Update your share count and average cost manually after any such event.

Do you support non-US stocks?

Ticker availability depends on Finnhub's coverage. We make no guarantee that any specific symbol will return accurate data.

Privacy & Data

What data do you collect?

Via Google sign-in: your email address, display name, and profile image. We also store the holdings data you enter (tickers, share counts, cost basis). See the full Privacy Policy.

Is my portfolio data sent to Finnhub?

No. We query Finnhub for price data by ticker symbol only. Your holdings data is never sent to Finnhub.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. Request account deletion at ingo@portfoliocard.app (please include the email you use to sign in). Your data will be removed within 30 days.

Do you use cookies?

Essential session cookies (Supabase Auth) are required for sign-in. Optional analytics cookies are not yet active — consent will be requested before activation. See the Cookie Policy.

Pricing

Is PortfolioCard free?

Yes — see the Free plan on the home page pricing section. Pro is $5/month for up to 8 tickers.

Are payments refundable?

Payments are non-refundable except where required by law or where PortfolioCard is at fault.

Legal

What are the rules around generated cards?

Cards belong to the user who created them. Removing or altering the "powered by PortfolioCard" footer attribution is prohibited.

Can I use cards as official performance records?

No. Cards are snapshots for social sharing only — not audited statements and not suitable as proof of returns or holdings in any official capacity.

Governing law?

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
